Welcome to the Homepage
of The Morecambe Bay Writers
We all met at a Creative Writing class that was held at the Lancaster and Morecambe college spanning the last four years. You will be able to read a little about us and read some examples of the work in our book when you visit our web site.
To fill a void that was created in the summer holiday in 2006, our dear friend and the only male member of our group, Tom Johnson, who died before the book went to press suggested that we hold a ‘summer school’ in Morecambe library. It proved so enjoyable that we continued after the death of Tom and dedicated the book, A Bowl of Cherries to him. As well as writing the material we proof-read it ourselves and also self-published it. The only help we had was with the cover and from the local printers! Our second book is currently in production so please watch this space. We were also invited to read to the blind. Namely at Galloway’s Society for the Blind in Morecambe. There is also a possibility that we may make a recording of our poetry and prose read by ourselves and donate it to the ‘books for the blind ‘section at Morecambe library and to Galloway’s who have kindly offered us the use of their recording studio.
